For the past 2 weeks we partnered with a church in Asanda, a Township in South Africa. We’d like to share some of our experiences with you (click below to enlarge):
A view of Asanda from the church playground
Justin spoke on the importance of work and education – In many of the churches there is a focus on spiritual things while neglecting the importance of the “practical” things God gifts and calls us to
Justin, Steffen and Kristina preparing for teachings; the kitchen table became the community desk =)
On the last evening of teachings we enjoyed tea and cookies with the faithful members
Sharing a meal with a family that lived on the church’s property; we spent a lot of our time with these loving and giving people
The church receives much of their income from a preschool run on the grounds – they provide transportation for many of the children
A little Xhosa girl is carrying her teddy just as “Mama’s” carry their children (“Mama” is a title used for married and older women)
On our off-day we explored a bit of the area around Asunda; which was breathtaking. We tried to take a picture on a mountain but the wind was playing games with Tera’s hair!
We are excited to continue partnering with this church over these next 2 years!
